ARCTIC DANCE: THE MARDY MURIE STORY

ARCTIC DANCE: THE MARDY MURIE STORY (USA, 2000, 75 min.)

Co-presented by the National Museum of American History

A collaborative effort by a group of passionate filmmakers, writers, musicians and biologists to produce the definitive film biography of this exceptional woman. Both an intimate portrait of a well-loved national figure and a poignant historical document, it vividly recounts the adventures that made up her life. The film combines archival material with more recent footage of Mardy in conversation with her friend, Terry Tempest Williams. The soundtrack features the music Mardy loved, performed and recorded by award-winning musicians. Directed and produced by Bonnie Kreps. Written and produced by Charlie Craighead.

Introduced by Jeffrey Stine, Chair, Division of Medicine and Science, National Museum of American History. Discussion with filmmakers Bonnie Kreps and Charlie Craighead follows screening.
