HAPPY (USA, 2011, 75 min.)

How do we balance the allure of money, fame and social status with our needs for strong relationships, health and personal fulfillment? Leading viewers on a journey across 14 countries on 5 continents in search of the keys to happiness, this documentary addresses many of the fundamental issues we face in today’s world. Combining cutting-edge science from “positive psychology” with powerful human stories of those who embody these positive feelings, this film provides a deeper understanding of how we can all live more fulfilling, healthy and happy lives. Melissa Moody, a mother of three had a “perfect life” until she was run over by a truck. Disabled for nine years and disfigured for life, amazingly, she is happier now than before her accident. Manoj Singh, a rickshaw puller from the slums of Kolkata, India who lives with his family in a hut made of plastic bags, is as happy as the average American. Directed and produced by Roko Belic.
