RUBÉN ABRUÑA has extensive experience in the entertainment industry, working in film, television, and radio. He has written, produced, directed, and edited numerous documentaries, corporate videos, promos, and commercials in New York, San Juan, and Miami. His credits include work for The Discovery Channel Latin America, PBS, WPLG (Miami’s ABC affiliate), Mitsubishi Motors, DHL, and Little Caesar’s Pizza, among others.

His love for documentaries began early on, when he studied under the guidance of Jean Rouch and George Stoney. He has garnered the Wolfson Media Award for South of Brooklyn, the Aurora Film Festival Gold Award for What About Coral?, and the Blue Ribbon Award at the American Film Festival for The Battle of Vieques.

As an Assistant Professor at Miami Dade College, he teaches film and video production and post-production. He is also a certified trainer for Avid’s Media Composer 6 and Final Cut Pro 7 and FCPX. In 2010, RubГ©n edited the book Survey of Documentary Film, a selection of writings about the history of the nonfiction genre. Additionally, RubГ©n directed the English to Spanish translation of Avid’s training books for Media Composer.
