Werner Boote’s most recent film, Population Boom (2013), resonated with audiences and took the Green Me Award for being the best вЂњgreenвЂќ documentary in Berlin. When Plastic Planet (2009) was released, it also garnered several awards, including the Golden Romy for Best Documentary in Cinmea.
Werner Boote studied theater, journalism, and sociology at the University of Vienna, as well as at the Film Academy. In 1993, after many years working as an assistant director, Boote began to make his own films. His early works focused largly on musical themes, inclduing videos Anouk вЂ“ Sacrifice (1999) and Andrea Bocelli вЂ“ Cieli di Toscana (2002). He also worked on numerous award-winning documentary, such as Kurt Rydl вЂ“ Gladiator (2007) which received a nomination for the European Film Awards. Boote resides in Vienna.
